How are they installed?
Professional installation is recommended with this product.
Although many of the patterns have become popular with DIY users, the complexity of each project will vary greatly from application to application and from individual to individual.
Installation is best suited to individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and a fussy disposition. This is regardless of occupation.
It is assumed you have automotive upholstery experience if you purchase this product. Instructions are not included.
R emoval of the seats from the vehicle is required as well as removal of all plastic trim and related components.
This product is held in place with a mix of hog rings, plastic clips, zippers and velcro which will vary from model to model.
The attachment methods used on the new upholstery will closely follow the attachment methods used on the original factory upholstery.
There will be some variation in clip styles and teqniques where a simplier method is used or where an original style clip is not available or feasable to use.
Openings for attachments, fasteners and pass through parts such as headrest posts are not pre-cut. These openings are made as part of the installation process.
Vinyl is very flexible and stretchy when warm and ridgid when cold. The warmer the material, the easier things will go and the better things will look.
A steamer is used on vinyl areas to remove puckers and folds held in the material from packaging and to increase stretch and create smooth contours.
A warm environment is required to install this product.
What are the trim levels?
MIX The two most popular trim levels for custom leather upholstery utilize a mix of vinyl and leather.
The most frequently purchased package by volume is the base trim or base leather trimmed package.
An upgrade option to this is the premium trim or premium leather faced trim level which increases the leather content substantially in key areas. This is the next most popular trim level selected by volume.
ALL Most patterns are also available in either 100% vinyl or 100% leather trims by special request.
These options are typically only selected when customers have specific needs or live in a climate where either a complete synthetic or complete genuine leather package is required.
It is important to note that 100% leather upholstery is extremely uncommon in factory leather upholstery packages. Typically a mix is used and referenced as leather appointed.
All Vinyl
Vinyl can be a good option for customers with specific cleaning requirements or that live in an extremely humid environment which accelerates leather degradation.
Base Trim
The base leather trimmed option is manufactured with full face leather on the main front bucket seats and mostly or entirely vinyl subsequent rows.
Premium Trim
The premium leather faced option is manufactured with full faced leather main outboard seating on all rows of upholstery being ordered.
All Leather
The 100% leather trim option contains no vinyl. This can be a good option for customers who live in extremely cold climates.
